You're engaged!!!!! Congrats!!! Now step back and block out whatever anyone in your family or your friends are telling you that you should do. Whew! Remember, this is your wedding. When push comes to shove, you want to be happy with your choices and your day, you cannot worry about making everyone else happy. You are going to come across the invite list problem. What do you mean your not inviting so and so?!?!?! How could you not invite Aunt Tassie that you haven't seen in EVER?!?!? Set the rules from the start. If you are having help from others to pay for your wedding, set a number to the amount of people they are allowed to invite. THEY WILL GIVE YOU MORE THAN THEY ARE ALLOWED! A list and a B list time. Trust me, you will be angry more than you will be happy, and guaranteed by 4 months to the wedding, you will be at odds with your soon to be husband or wife!
The hardest part of being married is getting to the wedding!
So after you have decided who you are going to allow and not allow to run your wedding, you can move on to the two of you. Sit down and pick a date. November to about March are more budget friendly months to get married. Halls are about half the price as they are from April to October. It is sad, but true.....winter weddings are nice too. There are pros and cons to both sides of the spectrum. Think about the type of weather you would like to get married in, you don't want to be uncomfortable and sweating! Next, lets talk color scheme. Depending on the month you are getting married, there are many colors that would look great on your bridal party as well as your flowers, tableware and other decorative touches you might want to add.
Go ahead, go look at some halls or catering places that you think you might like. Just remember if you are having a religious ceremony, you are to book your date with them first. If you are Catholic, you also will be needing to set aside time to attend pre-cana. You are able to attend and complete pre-cana up until 3 months before the wedding. There are different times you can go, weekends, one night during the week, they also have an overnight one as well. When you meet with your Priest or Deacon, he will advise you on what is available.
I will be ending this blog with one thing to do ASAP:
GET YOUR RING APPRAISED!
